Senate Panel Heeds Teamster Demand to Keep Border Closed to Mexican Trucks

Senate Committee Vote is Important Step in Fight to Secure America's Highways

March 23, 2007
(Washington, D.C.) – The Teamsters scored a significant victory today in the fight to stop President Bush's reckless plan to open the United States' border to unsafe Mexican trucks, with a key Senate committee voting to block the pilot project.
"The 1.4 million members of the Teamsters Union were heard loud and clear on Capitol Hill today," said Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa. "This is an important first step in our fight to keep America's highways safe and secure."
The Senate Appropriations Committee blocked funding for the dangerous pilot program by passing an amendment requiring the Transportation Department to publish details of the plan and to provide time for public comment. The committee also voted to require that the pilot project meet congressionally mandated safety and security standards.
The Bush administration is trying to circumvent those safety requirements by repackaging the plan as a pilot project, allowing 100 Mexican trucking firms open access to U.S. highways, putting American drivers at risk.
The amendment was sponsored by Democratic Sens. Byron Dorgan of North Dakota, Dianne Feinstein of California and Patty Murray of Washington.
"The Teamsters Union has successfully led the battle to keep our border closed for the past 12 years, and we will not let up in our fight as this measure moves through Congress," Hoffa said. "I want to thank our allies on Capitol Hill for standing strong for highway safety."
Hearings in both the Senate and House have revealed that too many questions remain about how the Bush administration's dangerous experiment will be carried out, the Transportation Department's ability to inspect trucks and the Mexican government's ability to meet U.S. standards for regulating hours of service, driver training and licensing.

John McCain And Sam Brownback got a dose of reality this week while campaigning in Iowa. Neither of these two pro amnesty found much support for the plan to enslave the Illegal Aliens to Corporate America. Brown back was met by a man who owned a small factory who refused to hire Illegals but told Brownback "these people are stealing from us" The man was also a party chairman for the GOP in Iowa. McCain and Brownback have Washington DC Syndrome in which your ears and eyes are placed into neutral and your tongue continues to motor on!
Brownback and McCain will not be in the race come December. In the Heartland where we still believe in the rule of law and are in no way going to support a candidate that wants amnesty merely to serve the whores of Corporate America. I have yet to meet any individuals who want more illegal aliens. If Corporate America wants them let them pay for them including but not limited to 100 percent health care and any and all social services they may require. Doesn't look so appealing to Corporate America if they have to take care of these slaves does it? Well that's what Corporate America, Sam Brownback and John McCain are asking the American Taxpayers to do. If the my party nominates either one of these two men it says we can do no better than what we are stuck with now, and Bush has destroyed the Middle Class of this country.
Conservatives have standards and we unlike McCain and Brownback will not compromise our convictions for a few pounds of silver. The law is the law is law. Illegal Aliens in this country have been given more rights than the citizenry of this country and we won't stand still like sheep and drink the Kool-Aid. We will not move our position to align with the views of Brownback and McCain, they must align their views with ours. Unfortunately it's too late for these men because they have already taken the side of Ted Kennedy, Geroge Bush and the pro Amnesty crowd. Twenty years ago these men would have gone unchecked but with the flow of information now we are no longer sheep and actually think for ourselves.
The GOP is suffering from the same syndrome as well. I know that the situation with Bush and the US Attorney firings are merely political on behalf of the Democrats. The President had the right to do what he did, but I and many like me will not support him on this issue or any others because he failed us on the most important issue. The President in six years has been allowed to give away our sovereignty to Mexico and the drug lords that control the border, so watching him spend the next two years defending himself against the Democrats will keep him from doing more harm to an already damaged middle class. Gonzales should go in my opinion not because he fired the Attorneys but because his staff are the ones sending Border Patrol Agents to jail while drug smugglers are given free reign. The President has called me a vigilante and protectionist, coming from him I'll wear it as a badge of honor. The Presidency of George Bush is over and those who have supported him will begin jumping ship the more they start seeing what he has done to give away this country to Corporations in the forming of the SPP. McCain and Brownback are identical twins to the President on every issue, Do you really want another President that works harder for Mexico than for America.

Tonight he was on Lou Dobbs and could not answer the question, "by what authority are you working under?" His lame answer was, Lou don't you attend meetings just get information". "Yes but my meetings that involve public policy are held in the light of the press, yours are not, Dobbs responded".

That's right you sheep out there, these meetings that are given a wink and nod by the Bush Administration are not open to the public or the press. They are extremely confidential.

Do you think Geraldo could get his head out of Anna Nicole Smith's paternity BS to do some real journalism. Maybe Keith Oberman could shut his trap about FOX news and actually talk about something that matters. I doubt it!

The famous speech President Bush made at ground zero should have been made to Congess. Pesident Bush and every member of Congress has the blood of everyone who died in 9/11 on their hands. No I am not some conspiracy nut. I know that Bin Laden and his lunatics committed this evil deed, but by the failure of the President and Congress to secure our borders the fanatics were given the means in which to pull this off. As the old saying goes, "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me". Did Bush and Congress not learn a damn thing from 9/11? Our borders are still wide open and we have 10-20 million people in this country that are in the shadows.

Bush and Congress will tell you that the hijackers were here legally, that is the first fallacy. In fact the hijackers used the illegal immigrant network to gain the forged documents they needed to prove they were legal. They actually got their documents in Falls Church, Virginia in the parking lot of a 7-11.

No the majority of the blame still resides with our elected officials who continue to ignore the their sworn duty to protect and defend this country against all invaders, foreign and domestic. You only have to look at congress and the laws they make to know that they are bought and paid for by big corporations. Big corporations will do anything to keep the cheap labor pouring into this country even if it means buying politicians.

Everyday the President asks the American public to trust his decisions. I voted for you twice Mr President and I trust you as much as I trust Bin Laden. Your pathetic efforts to control our borders is allowing the means for the United States to be hit again and again and again by the nutjobs that can access this country right through Mexico. I am sure the terrorists coming here via Mexico will be hard working and they definetly will do the jobs Americans won't do and thats to attack Americans.

Civil unrest is brewing in this country and probably its due. Americans like me are tired of being the doormat and whipping boy for the world. You have illegal alien criminals protesting in our streets, telling us they are staying and we can't do anything about it. If America is over run with Mexicans our society will soon become just like Mexico. Then what will the world do? Who will be the country that everybody runs to when any disaster happens in the world? Who will be the country to stop genocide? Who? It won't be us because we will be governed by drug runners and currupt politicians just like Mexico.

With violence starting to esculate at the border it won't be long before it spreads north to a city near you. This is one American that will not live behind barred windows and cower in fear. I will organize with my right to bear arms and I will take the fight to the enemy. If my family's security is threatened by invaders with our government allowing this to happen my status will change from law abiding citizen to insurgent. I will not surrender what so many sacrificed to give us. And if America ever reaches the boiling point I just mentioned, then the politicians will be held accountable and will be judged as traitors to the constitution and will be dealt with no mercy.

A country that doesn't have protected borders, doesn't have a country.

NO AMNESTY

Since our own government has become as corrupt as the Mexican government its time to show the illegals how you fight for your home. Americans will not surrender and run to another country. We will stand and fight for our rights. We will stand and hold the corrupt politicians who have been bribed by the modern day slave traders accountable. No longer will our demands that Washington protect the citizens of this country from foreign invaders fall on deaf ears.

I have seen the President call law abiding citizens vigilantes and thugs, while he pardons drug dealers and human smugglers. It's time to take the fight to the illegals. They thumb their noses at us while accepting our tax dollars to survive. No more hospitality. Its time for you to go home because you are outnumbered and out gunned. You couldn't take to the streets and march to thank the good people of this country for allowing you to leave the sh!t hole you come from. Instead you make demands on us and like the ungrateful heathens you are, you should have let the sleeping dog lie.
